These are the most frequently asked questions about Daniel and myself. As further unique questions are emailed to me, I'll add them to this page in the order that they are received.

How much of Daniel's life is real?

Much of it is based on stuff the Captain tells me about his own life or his friends' lives. The various plots also revolve around things that have happened in my life or to people I've known. The rest I invent. It's important to me to balance fantasy with reality so that the end result is credible as well as entertaining.

How many of Mr B's other characters are real?

They all are. Apart from Kostik who is a current friend, all my other characters were guys I knew during my teens, twenties and thirties. I've taken a bit of liberty with the plots and locations but, essentially, all the stories are based on factual events.

How old is Mr B?

They don't call me the Fossil for nothing. But I can still give you young whippersnappers a run for your money, so watch out! :o)

Why does Mr B write about teens and young people?

Because they fascinate me. They're going through a steep learning curve which, to my mind, is a wonderful adventure fraught with all kinds of pitfalls and dangers, as well as fun. But, most of all, they're passionate about everything and I love passionate people.

Who is the Captain?

I can honestly say that he's the most awesome, generous and inspiring young person I've ever met. Mind you, he doesn't see himself that way. He's cocky but he's not egotistical. I admire him immensely. We have a great relationship that's bridged the generation gap. We learn a great deal from each other and have a great respect for each other. As for precisely who he is, I don't think he wants that generally known. He lives in a largely homophobic society and isn't ready to leap outa the closet waving a large banner just yet. I can picture him doing that, though, hehehe.

How did Mr B develop his writing style?

When I met the Captain, I became passionate about his life, his mind, his attitude. He inspired me to incorporate that passion into my stories. Up until that point in my life, I was rarely passionate about anything I wrote. I found myself at the will of an overwhelming desire to communicate my passion to my readers -- the first of whom was the Captain himself. I was faced with a challenge to describe my mental images well enough so that my readers could also 'see' them. It's been a process that's taken me about a year to develop to its current stage. I have to thank the Captain for giving me the gift of passion. YRC.

Is Mr B influenced by other writers?

Apart from a guy named John who wrote "Caring for Cody", and the Captain, not at all. I rarely read anything apart from newspapers and magazines. I have no patience for reading. That is why I write to please impatient readers like myself. Short, sharp and to the point. Because of my experience in video editing, I write like an editor. Before a 'scene' is in danger of becoming boring, I jump to the next. I also use a lot of dialogue so that my readers can 'hear' the characters talking.

Why so much sexual content in the stories?

I like to smother my hot dogs with ketchup and my cakes with lots of whipped cream and strawberries. Sex is a common denominator; some cynics might suggest the lowest. The vast majority of people are interested in it. Six billion people can't be wrong. :o)

Does Mr B think his stories could be harmful to some people?

I would recommend reading glasses and plenty of lube. According to the feedback I've received to date, my stories have helped many people overcome their feelings of inferiority or paranoia about being gay. I went through all that bullshit as a teen. Now, with the Captain's help, I can expose homophobics for what they are -- ignorant.

How important is sex in peoples' lives?

I'd rate it up there with air, water, food and Volkswagens.

What kind of car does Mr B drive?

My last car was a VW Camper. I had a ball in that thing, taking off when I felt like it and discovering all sorts of interesting places. My friends called it a 'fridge on wheels'. I don't have a car at the mo.

What type of car would Mr B like to have?

Haven't decided yet. :o)
